We would like to take this moment to share some exciting news about our organization. Thanks to the support from local businesses and fundraising efforts, we were able to launch our “iPads for Special Kids” program this year. We have supported various Massachusetts school’s special education technology programs by purchasing iPads for their programs in order to help foster communication by students with special needs, in particular those who are non-verbal. Many of the special education programs, as well as the augmentative communication and developmental departments at Children’s Hospital are moving toward using iPads and other assistive technology equipment, rather than some of the more expensive devices, to promote other ways to communicate with children with special needs or other learning disabilities, in particular those who are non verbal or unable to write. We are thrilled we have been able to make a small difference in this area of learning and development.
